How to Tailor Your Resume to Any Job Description (in 10 Minutes)

The 10-minute method

1. Copy the JD into a doc. Highlight every noun (tech, tool, domain) and every verb (built, scaled, owned).
2. Mirror the top 10 nouns in your skills + experience sections.
3. Rewrite your top 3 bullets to use the JD's verbs — "owned", "scaled", "shipped".
4. Update your summary with the exact role title from the JD.
5. Reorder your skills so JD-matching ones appear first.

Example: same person, two JDs

JD A — "Backend Engineer (Node.js, AWS)"

Skills: Node.js, AWS, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, REST APIs, microservices

JD B — "Full-stack Engineer (React, Next.js)"
